Aloha. It's usually TGIF for me but today, I'm feelin' more like boo, winter Break is >.< almost done.
Mahalo nui loa for always saying lovely things about my daughters and godson. They are such a big part of my world and bright lights in it.
I am two days behind BTW on reading your blogs. Last night I read some on the iPad which was nice as I got to snuggle up in bed. It's easier on my wrists and eyes than reading on this computer.
Many of you have reviewed your fiberous year. I have never thought to do that and think I'm inspired to do one sometime this weekend. I think it'll be good to reflect upon what was accomplished and what's next for 2013.
This post is prepped one day early as tomorrow we're hosting a playdate. It's more of an informal one where the two girls are being dropped off and I don't have to entertain any adults. But I do have food and snacks to prep as excited young ladies do like to nom, nom, nom.
So here is one item for
A Maroon Slouch:
It's a standard, slouchie beanie. I've mentioned before I was using Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash in Maroon. I just realized I didn't put down what circs I had used on my Ravelry project page - doh! Blame it on the holiday rush. I may have used a 4 for the ribbing and then switched up to a 7.
It's about 10.5" long. The decrease section was inspired by the method Evelyn of Project Stash used in her Child Miranda Hat pattern. Just thought I'd try something different. My numbers came out well and they do change a bit on the last round I was able to do before gathering up the last of the sts.
This will be wrapped up and brought to school next week to Mrs. F.
On a side note: I created my own, generic photo studio today. I stacked two, Sterilite bins on top of one another and positioned our Canon on top. I binder-clipped a large piece of white felt up on the kitchen wall's organizers to make a blank background. It took me 1.5 hours to get a few photos I liked for new profile pictures and for this project. I can't believe how time flew by. Now I understand why a professional, photo shoot takes so long. I used Picasa as usual to edit my pics.
Well, if you want to check out more FOs, click over to Tami's otherwise until next time...

I really love the finished beanie and the pictures look great! It was really worth the time to get them, I just seem to snap when I get the chance lol Our little ones are back at school now next week also :(
ReplyDeleteI hope your playdate today is fabulous filled with lots of laughter and happiness. I miss those days! Yes, ending winter break was definitely hard -- my kids went back to school on Wednesday and I returned to work yesterday. Still, it's now almost the weekend so let the knitting (and reading and cooking and relaxing) begin!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely hat! What a fantastic gift.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love knitting with Cascade? Gorgeous colour!
ReplyDeleteI'm too lazy to make all that effort for photos of myself; I just recruit Gavin to take the photos!
White felt is a great idea! I love your pics - I think they turned out really well! The maroon beanie looks so great on you, I think you should make on in the same color for yourself :-)
ReplyDeleteThat hat looks awesome on you. You are definitely a hat person!
ReplyDeleteThis hat is so pretty and classic, and the slouchiness makes it really fun! Great gift!
ReplyDeleteThat is your color, no doubt about it. You need to make more knits in that color for yourself!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about being a couple days behind on blog reading...I'm a whole week behind. I've been reading blogs since yesterday and I'm about halfway through. Or maybe I have too many blogs to read. Meh. Whatever.
ReplyDeleteI've tried slouch hats and they're just not my friends. I think I was meant to wear beanies. And make beanies. And so on and so forth. It works out pretty well for me. Also, I need to make a fake photo studio one of these days. I'm tired of my photos looking like poop.
