WIP Wednesday

Ann yeong! What's the weather like in your neighborhood today? Ours is a bit warmer - hooray - and no wind which helps a lot.

Kamsa hamnida for the ripple love. The colors really make it a vivd piece of fabric. I'm glad my DCs look even as I can get into that rhythm of Lucy's pattern.

Yesterday, I tried for the first time, knitting to an audio book that many of you do and recommend. We had listened to the first book of the Harry Potter series in the car last year. I loved it. Jim Dale is fantastic! I love how he does different voices for each character. So talented this man is. At my request, Santa got me Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.  I was laughing when the Weasleys were bustin' out Harry from his uncle's. I'm gonna try to work on my sock today with the audio book on.

What are your favorite audiobooks? Are any of the readers like Jim Dale? I'd love to listen to the Twilight series being read but honestly, my mental block tells me that no one can replace Robert Pattinson as Edward. I also love Deborah Harkness's All Souls Trilogy. Her audio books are read by Jennifer Ikeda. I've heard a sample. It's not bad. I think I'll have to find these at the library to check them out first.

I made good progress on Kim's The Band of Five:

It's easy as there are 23 sts and I only have to cable after every 10.

This is definitely a portable project.

What's your portable project right now?

  1. You did make some good progress it looks great. I haven't tried listening to audiobooks while knitting but I do listen to podcast or craftsy classes. :)

  2. The weather is cloudy and humid down here. We have had a bit of rain but thankfully our lake stopped bulging at full capacity unlike much of our state and up North. We have not really listened to audio books although they have been suggested. I am the one that usually ends up doing all the reading around here. Love your band of 5, nice colour and effective pattern. Hope you are well. Hugs xoxox

  3. I think the only audiobook I've ever listened to is the Harry Potter series (I have all 7). I've read them so often that I can listen to them and if I stop paying attention, it's not a big deal because I'll know where I am when I start again.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

  4. I love to read the books in the old fashion way. But it's interesting to listen to it ... Maybe sometimes later in this year. I love your scarf(?) most of all the cable. Have a good week.

  5. Only getting to you now...I don't have any audio books, it took me ages to try out a kindle as I didn't want to give up an actual book lol, I love my kindle now but do still buy my books so can you imagine how long it would take me to get to grips with audio books! I've read all the HP books several times and love them and I'm with you on someone else reading Twilight, I've not heard of the All Souls Trilogy but will check them out on goodreads, must look you up and I'll let you know what I think of the brownies and broomsticks. Great work on your band of 5, don't think any of my projects right now are portable lol.

  6. Very portable! Those cables look very addictive too, if you like cables that is. I'm glad to hear the wind has died down, wind can definitely bring an unpleasant chill. My family loved listening to A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket on long car trips, they are a little dark but everyone in my family was riveted though each one. If I remember correctly the author reads some of them and Tim Curry reads the rest, both of them are fantastic at it.

  7. I mainly listen to podcasts. There is something about knitting while listening to people talk about knitting that is really nice.

  8. Really nice yarn for that band of five. Mom and I once bought a series of audiobooks in which the narrator sailed to every remote outpost of the British Empire. It was fascinating and wildly entertaining! We used to listen to it as we drove here and there.

  9. The weather on the east coast is completely bonkers! Ice storms one day, balmy spring-like temps the next. Oh dear! I adore portable knitting and mine right now are ... SOCKS!
